Unfurls automatically underwater when deployed
By setting up the WDS in the
manner described in the Instructions , your WDS™ does not need to be
unfurled or unrolled before deployment. There are no moving parts or knobs that
need to be adjusted before deployment.
Simply place the Stainless Steel Ring over your thumb on your left hand,
ensure that all webbing and webbing loops and the buoy itself are on the
outside of your fore arm (away from your body and equipment) and fill with your
alternate air source as per instructions.
The WDS™ will now unfurl itself as
your Surface Marker Buoy makes its way to the surface.
In the unlikely event that this does
unravel as easily as it should, or you have deployed deeper than the
operational depth, simply open you thumb and let the highly polished Stainless
Steel Ring slip off your thumb.
Optimized Performance - no air spill
The WDS ™is weight optimized
ensuring that your buoy will not spill air on the way to the surface or on the
surface itself. The weight of the Snap Hook and Stainless Steel Rings ensure
that all parts of the system are negatively buoyant so that if the WDS™ is completely released (assuming
the buoy has been filled with air) the WDS™
will always keep the opening of the buoy underwater ensuring that the buoy does
not spill and deflate. The large Stainless Steel Thumb
Ring ensures that the whole WDS system is negative and once deployed will not
create a free floating entanglement problem quite often faced with cheap string
or cord.
Surface Marker’s Diver Signal Tube & WDS™ come as a complete unit and do
not need any modifications or the purchase of additional reels or spools to be
used.
The Diver Signal Tube & WDS™are designed for recreational diving use
only and are not designed for technical or decompression diving purposes where
deeper decompression stops need to be made.
Both the deployment
and retrieval of the buoy with the
WDS ™ is easy and can be simulated on land
before the dive in order to ensure mastery of this simple skill.
This reliable deployment system eliminates the need of a reel or spindle making
this a good alternative for the recreational diver. The 2cm / 6/8” red and
white “Surface Marker” webbing is easily seen underwater and can be used by you
and your buddy as a reference during your ascent or to hold onto during your
Safety Stop.
The Brass Snap Hook attached to the Stainless Steel Ring on the Buoy will
ensure that there is always enough weight to keep the opening of the buoy under
water once inflated and will not allow the buoy to deflate even if you should
let go of the complete unit.
